Brief Answer:
There are changes in walls of tiny air passages and air sacs in lower lobes of lungs

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There is minimal scarring in the lung bases means that the walls of small air passages and air sacs in lower lobes of lungs have got thickened and are fibrotic.

Minimal atelectasis in the lung bases refers to loss of elasticity of the walls of tiny air spaces in the lower lobes of lungs causing collapse.

This is usually a common appearance in the elderly and in people who might have had a lung infection previously. Some people who are in the habit of smoking might also have this appearance due to increased mucus production. It is a harmless finding if you do not have any other symptoms relating to the respiratory system and does not require treatment. However if you have any respiratory symptoms then detailed lung function test is required.

Hope your query is answered.

Thank you so very much for your very descriptive reply. I am 43 years old and never have smoked. I am not overweight. Ive had shortness of breath for over the last year. My blood pressure has seemed to increase with medication not controlling it. I was recently diagnosed with internal jugular vein thrombosis. I am under the care of physicians, so hopefully I'll get some sort of diagnosis soon.
