Question: My 4 year old son, who had a seizure was order an ct scan with these findings...Findings: There is prominence to the cortical sulci and ventricles consistent with atrophy. There is a caval septum pellucidum. Small vessel ischemic changes are seen. No evidence for intracranial hemorrhage. There are no extra-axial fluid collections or masses. No midline shift. Calvarium is intact. Paranasal sinuses are clear.

I am wandering what this means and should I seek a neurologist?

Brief Answer:
Structural variations within the brain are the causes of seizures

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details of mentioned. Caval septum pellucidum is a structural variant formed and reformed between the 12th and 20th week of intrauterine life. It acts as a marker of fetal neural malformation. It seems that there were certain problems in the development of the brain while the baby was still in formation inside the uterus. There could be some problems with the blood supply as well, leading to inadequate supply of blood relating to smaller branches of the vessels of the brain. The atrophic features could be due to the brain not being able to grow properly due to inadequate blood supply. Seizures could occur due to various structural variations, especially related to the septum pellucidum which lies adjoining a structure called corpus callosum which lies in the midline between the two halves of the brain and serves as a communication between the two. Improper communication due to the Caval septum pellucidum could be a cause of the seizures.

You should see either a neurologist or a pediatrician and remain in his follow up. He would be able to suggest you anticonvulsants to keep the seizures in control.

Hope that helps.
