Question : Hi
Sometimes I feel like my heard stops for a sec than kicks in. I decided to get my ekg done.
I'm 37 male 6'0" 182lbs Vegan.
Ekg came back as:
Sinus bradycardia ( vent. rate < 60 bpm )
Abnormal left axis deviation (-90 deg. QRS axis < -30 deg.)
** abnormal rhythm ECG **
I wore holter fro 24 hrs but results wont be back for a week
Would you be kind and explain what it means ?
Can I still be active ( running and working out )
Thank you

I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for asking on HCM!
Regarding your ECG, seems that you have left anterior fascicular block (abnormal left axis deviation).
You don't have to worry about that!
That ECG device conclusion **abnormal rhythm ECG** needs to be confirmed by a cardiologist review (to avoid machine artifacts).
Please, could you upload your ECG for direct investigation??
Meanwhile, I would not recommend you to stop your daily physical activity, as nothing pathological is confirmed by these limited preliminary data.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
Feel free to ask me whenever you need. Greetings! Dr. Iliri

Brief Answer:
You ECG doesn't represent any dangerous abnormalities.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again!
After reviewing your uploaded ECG, I am glad to confirm you that it doesn't show any dangerous abnormalities. So relax!
As I said you before, it is a left anterior fascicular block and also a leftward shift of the transitional zone (R/S). It may be caused by a certain position of heart inside the thorax (and to the thorax shape). A chronic pulmonary disorder should be excluded also.
So, to conclude, I would recommend you to continue being active (running and working out), as nothing wrong is present on your resting ECG. You don't have to worry!
It seems a variant within normal ranges.
Hope to have been of help!
Best regards! Dr. Iliri

Dr. what could be causing that heart skip or thump I feel once in a while when Im relax and breathing out air ( does my heart drop below 50bpms and trys to kick in to higher gear ) ?
When my wife listened to my heart she said she could heart it pause for a sec and than continue beat. Is that the arrhythmia my doc was talking about and why shouldn't I worry about it ?
Also is it possible that I have some missing vitamins or minerals based on my vegan diet that can cause all that irregularity ?
Again thank you for all your help.

Brief Answer:
Don't worry! Just relax and wait Holter results!
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX!
Your skipped heart beats probably may be ectopic beats (extrasystoles), but we have not any documented evidences of them (so far by your resting ECG).
That's why your doctor has recommended you an ambulatory ECG monitoring (Holter).
It will help to clarify all the above questioned issues (your heart rate during day-night period, during exercise and when at rest; the presence of any possible arrhythmic events, like atrial or ventricular extrasystoles, etc; to rule out/in possible atrio-ventricular conductance disturbances, etc).
Once again, I would like to assure you that just some palpitations feelings you have experienced, are not a reason for limiting your everyday physical activity.
As you haven't any evidences of stuctural heart diseases (confirmed by cardiac ultrasound or any other possible cardiac tests), there is nothing to worry about.
So relax again! Just wait your Holter results!
Meanwhile, I recommend to check your complete blood count (to rule out any possible anemia), blood electrolytes levels for possible alterations, blood proteins, possible feasible vitamin dosing, etc, to identify any possible vitamins and minerals deficiencies.
Hope to have been helpful for you!
Feel free to ask me whenever you have any uncertainties!
Best wishes! Dr. Iliri

Doctor so I was told original based on this ekg that is it also arrhythmia. Do you see that also. If so what do you think about it.
Brief Answer:
No evidence of arrhythmia on your ECG.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXX!
I am repeating you again very clearly that: YOUR UPLOADED ECG HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE OF ARRHYTHMIA AT ALL. It is a normal sinus rhythm.
This is my only opinion about it.
Feel free to contact me for any uncertainties! Greetings! Dr. Iliri
