Question : I had consulted Dr. Bharatesh previously about a potential infection of HIV due to unprotected sex with unknown person before 9 weeks. I have gone through several HIV antibodies test and the results are all negative and tires are as follows:
My current concern is about the drastic changes in the results between different medical centers where I performed the HIV test. Details are as follows:
Test 1 (after 2 weeks): 0.13 in Hospital A
Test 2 (after 4 weeks): 0.05 in Hospital B
Test 3 (after 6 weeks): 0.03 in Hospital B
Test 4 (after 7 weeks): 0.04 in Hospital B
Test 5 (after 8.5 weeks): 0.274 in Hospital C
Test 6 (after 9 weeks): 0.14 in Hospital B
What does that mean? Is it confirmed that it is negative.
Please do not ask me for further tests after whatsoever periods. I cannot wait anymore. I am unable to live my normal life due to this nightmare.
On the other and, I have gone through a number of issues such as pain the neck (back and front), pain the right arm and back bone (middle part) and tight breathe. I performed MRI on my neck and X ray on the chest.

Brief Answer:
Each value is not important. They were all less than cut off value&negative
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Every test have some 'cut off' values, that is marked over the kit manual. Any reading below that value is considered as negative. The exact values have no relation either to the intensity of the disease or the reaction of the body. Those values have nothing to do with the clinical prognosis. So ignore the values. It was negative. That only matters. All your symptoms are not necessarily related to STD/HIV and they are not early symptoms for HIV.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX
I really appreciate your response. However, I have three quick comments, which require your kind review and assessment:
1- The cut off value is 1.0 and all the tests have been performed in three different medical centers, not using home kit.
2- You mean to say that after 9 weeks, the negative test result that the final result is negative. How about the medical references which are calling for 12 weeks?
3- Shall I close the subject and live my normal live. In terms of sexual course with wife and so on?

Brief Answer:
Repeat the test after 12 weeks before resume the normal sexual life.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
1. You had done the tests at different labs but not on the same day. So variations in the interpretation is common as per the days condition with regards to the individual's body internal biochemical changes.
2. I said that all the test were negative as per the cut off value. But the window period of HIV could be extended up to 12 weeks in some individuals according to their immune system reacting capacity. So the test after 12 weeks would be the more conclusive result.
3. After a nonreactive result of HIV at 12 weeks or later, you can resume your normal sexual life with your wife.
