Question : I recently had an MRI, checking my hearing loss, and was shown to have 'chronic small vessel white matter ischemic disease.' Is this something to worry about, or do I just keep on as usual. I am 75 years old, had a manengeoma (sp?) removed from the same area in 1998. My health is good otherwise. I do have to take thyroid replacement as I only have a portion of my gland. That was removed in 1966. I was one of the 'lucky' kids that had x-ray treatment for acne. Thank you for any advice. My name is XXXXXXX XXXX

Brief Answer:
Probably high blood pressure as the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Tjose MRI findings indicate that most probably your blood pressure changes (mainly hypertension) is the culprit.

There is no need to worry much more than necessary, but correct control of blood pressure and healthy lifestyle are necessary to prevent this condition to progress.

Meningioma is a benign brain tumor that in most cases of successful surgical removal is considered definitely treated.

Please Discuss with your primary care Doctor about getting evaluated about blood pressure changes.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
