Brief Answer:
Decreased signal means degenative disc disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Decreased signal density/intensity found on intervertebral discs by MRI means that discs are desiccated ( low water content) by prolonged degenative column disease.

There is no compression or other pathological processes foun on MRI, so you don't have to worry much more than necessary.

You should consider treatment with NSAID drugs, physical therapy and follow up imaging in case of worsening symptoms.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
