Question: I asked recently about an abnormal pap and would really like to hear from a gynecologist about the issue. I have a follow up appt Sept 8th and I am not sure how I am going to hold up until then so worried!! Atypical glandular cells look really scary on google, is there any chance my further tests will be ok? I have included my pap results.

Brief Answer:
Do not panic

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
I have reviewed the report.
It says' atypical glandular cells '.
This is one of the pathology or cervical changes from the preinvasive malignant lesions of the cervix.
It is the initial most stage of the cervical carcinoma.
It was easy to treat once confirmed by the colposcopic guided biopsy.
Treatment includes hysterectomy and usually the treatment is complete.
So, there is no need to panic, and a systematic management is required.
A delay of 8-10 days in your appointment will not cause any effect on the disease.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Brief Answer:
Not cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Preinvasive lesions are not cancers in true sense.
These are abnormalities in the cervical cellular pattern which is deviated from the normal.
If left untreated for very long time, for several years, then it can lead to cancer.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
