What Does This X-ray Report Indicate?

Question: Hi,

Our son, 2.5years old, fell from the top of the slide in the play area and suffered a collar bone fracture, a week ago. Please find attached the x-ray. We are told the fracture will heal by itself. However, in the x-ray, the bone seems to be slightly miss aligned though it is still in contact. We are concerned if the bone heals out of original alignment, if there will be any issues for him when he grows up? Can he use the arm normally?

Brief Answer:
There should be no problem on future as far as this fracture is concerned.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
I have seen the x ray. your son has minimally displaced # clavicle on right side.
In my opinion this fracture in young children has no issues with union and any deformity occurring now disappears in few months as the bone remodels to XXXXXXX shape.
in future there is no problem due to this fracture either cosmetic or functionally.
thanx for the question. please feel free to ask any other question
