Posted on Mon, 29 Dec 2014
Question: Hi Sir/Madam

My daugther's age is 4 years.
She was recently admitted in hospital due to severe pneumonia and given antibioics.
After 15 days doctor confirmed saying that it was cured and has to be given antibioics orally.
As of now, she is not getting fever and baby is active.

However, yesterday we have taken x ray:
Report says :
1) H0mogenous radiioopacity seen at left lower and mid zone and at left paracardiac region- likely loculated pleural effusion.
2)Inhomogenous radioopacity seen at left basal region- likely patchy pneumonitis.

Kindly look into this and advice us.
And also inform home remedy steps please.

Brief Answer:
Want to know previous X ray report.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question.

I want to know the x ray reporting at the time of admission to the hospital.
In pneumonia symptoms appear first before radiological changes. And same is true after treatment. Symptoms go first and then x ray improvement is seen.

It takes almost 5-6 weeks for x ray to be completely normal.

So if your daughter is not having fever and cough and she is active , playful and eat properly than no need to worry for x ray findings. She might be in resolving phase. Get repeat chest X ray after 15-20 days. Most probably it will be cleared.

Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing good health to your daughter.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry much.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question.
In my opinion chest x ray is improving as there is no hydropneumothorax which was present in earlier x ray.
So no need to worry, she is improving. And her present x ray is in resolution phase.
Get done repeat chest x ray after 15 days.
Hope I have solved your query.
