Question : just received the written report from my abdominal ultrasound. It states subcapsular focus of diminished echogenicity is noted in the hepatic dome measuring up to 4.3 cm. the spleen is slightly enlarged at 12.6 cm. it goes on to say Impression: Hypoechoic focus of the dome of the liver. There is diffuse fatty infiltration of the liver and this may represent some geographic sparring. Goes on to suggest MRI of the liver. What can this be? Is it considered a lesion or mass?
Brief Answer:
Not a lesion or mass
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
You have focal fat sparing of the liver. It is not a lesion or a mass. It is an area in liver where fat deposition is absent when compared to the rest of the liver.
It is a benign condition.
