Brief Answer:
Do not unnecessarily change the antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details. Let me tell you that Widal test reports above 1:160 are considered positive. But for the Widal test to be positive, it would take at least 7-10 days. So, I do not think that the Widal test at this stage was justifiable. Anyway, in case of suspicion of enteric fever, it is good to prescribe some cephalosporins. Cefpodoxmine proxtil or Taxim O (cefixime) both belong to cephalosporins and are similar in nature. But if you start an antibiotic, you should complete the course and should not switch in between. So, although the other doctor might have given taxim o in good faith, I do not think that you should change over from the previous medication.

In any case paracetamol needs to be taken. Tepid sponging will also be helpful. The other medicines and report parameters are proper and you need not worry about them.
