Question : Hi, Recently i did Vitamin panel test in Dr. Lal Path Lab. While others look are within range as per report but Vitamin D,25 - HYDROXY, Serum is just 31 nmol / L. I need to bring this to at least 75 nmol/L. What medicine should i take so that my Vitamin D goes up. Please advise as appropriate. FYI, i take Olmezest H20 for BP daily. Brief Answer:
Vitamin D supplementation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You seem to have Vitamin D deficieny. You need to keep the Vit D levels above 75 nmol/L or 40ng/ml.
It is prudent to get the Serum PTH and Serum calcium values as well. It would be a futile exercise to understand the cause of Vit D exactly without these values.
Though most of it is because of lack of sun exposure and physical activity the reasons have to found exactly.
In my opinion you can take one tablet Vitamin D3, 60000 IU dose once a week for three months along with milk. You can repeat the test after 3 months and let me know.
Try to expose bare body to sun for one hour a week and increase physical activity too.

Let me know other questions.
