Posted on Mon, 11 Aug 2014
Question: I just received back my echocardiogram report, and it says the inferior vena cava was abnormal. the inferior Vena cava was dilated with respiratory size variation greater than 50%. Should I be concerned? I've had some chest pain in recent months and they have attributed that to anxiety type issue

Brief Answer:
Yes it fine

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.

I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.

The report that you have stated is fine. Normally as well there is dilatation of inferioir vena cava with respiration. This occurs due to the movement of diaphragm.. It certainly has nothing to do with your chest pain symptom. Its an incidental finding and nothing to be worried about.

Hope I am able to answer your concerns.

If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.

If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
