Question: Hello Doctor,

I need your advice on my medical situation at the moment. About 3 months ago, I got a sore throat that made my world collapse. After this event I had several infections of either the ears, the throat and nose and extreme fatigue.
During this time I did several blood tests. One month after the event I did a full blood check-up and everything was normal besides the Epstein Barr Virus IgG of above 750. However, the lab said it was likely to be of old immunity.
In the mean time just to be sure I did 4 HIV tests, all beyond window period, the last being 3 months out of an event.
Also did Sinus scan, which was fine and Lung radio, which was also ok. After going to so many doctors and not getting any help, I finally found a doctor that thinks I have a mononucleosis infection. So today after 3 months even though the fatigue levels of my body are a bit better, I still get sick, I have a dry cough and stuffy, swolen lingh nodes in the neck nose and still feel tired, not my normal Ok status.
This doctor I found asked for some new tests and got them today. All blood work seems to be normal except the EBV virus that still has an IgG superior to 750.

Can you please help me out in giving me a second opinion? The first 2 months I barely rested due to work and life. Now I have been resting for a month and do feel a slight improvement.

PS: The tests results are here in attachment.

Kind regards.

Brief Answer:
Do not seem to have a serious issue

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

Obviously your HIV screening is conclusive and similar elevated EBV titres would be positive in a lot of individuals in general population and just indicate past infection and moreover since your other Lab tests are all clear you dont need to worry.

Since you seem to have had repeated upper respiratory tract infections i.e ear, throat and nose I wonder that you could be atopic.

As far as fatigue and tiredness is concerned, in your case it could be explained by work related stress and anxiety or constant worrying about the reason for repeated upper respiratory infections.

Hi sir thank you for the answer. I am not sure how to solve this puzzle, all I want is get back to the gym and work therefore I'm not depressed....

Could the fact of my daughter be in kindergarten now (she started in te same time all this happened) be a reason for all this trouble ? Maybe an unknown virus from kids....

Or if maybe I am atopic, what natural medicine could I try? I remember having tired spells in winters but never this harsh and debilitating..,,

Kind regards!

Brief Answer:
Antiallergic and oral decongestant

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Right now I would suggest you to take just symptomatic treatment.
You may take an oral decongestant and antiallergic combination e.g Claritin D tab, once or twice daily for a few days. This would benefit your symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Lymphoma is a rare

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Lymphoma is a rare possibility.
Infections are a more common cause of swollen cervical lymph glands rather than a Lymphoma.
Recurrent sore throat/ throat infection can give rise to regional swollen lymph glands. Swollen glands due to throat infection/ inflammation are temporary and resolve as the infection resolves.
However, if the swollen lymph nodes persists even after 3 months of appropriate treatment, I would suggest a Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) Or a lymph node biopsy to rule out a rare possibility of lymphoma.
