Question : Hi - i got a yeast infection one month ago (see report attached) and now i have got a milder version of the same infection. At that time i had treated it with vaginal suppositaries. This time (ie yesterday) ive had a flucanazole 400mg which was precribed to me earlier. I want to check the dosage that i should be taking- ive read its a one time drug. Also i am taking diane 35 hope thats ok. Pls let me know if there is anything else i should avoid? Should my partner need any medication? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Fluconazole, partner treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
I have reviewed the report.
I had conversation with you earlier in february, and then I advised you vaginal suppositories and fluconazole for this yeast infection.
Fluconazole 400 mg is usually given as a one time drug, but in vaginal infections, it is always preferred to take it once daily for three days, as the vaginal infection is usually seen to recur after a single day dose.
3 day regimen is generally given and is very well tolerated as well as safe.
Fluconazole decrease the contraceptive efficacy of Diane 35, so if you are taking it for contraceptive purposes, then you should use other contraceptive measure like condom.
Yes, your partner should take AF kit which contains 4 tablets which are to be taken in a day.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
