Brief Answer:
Degenerative cardiac valve disease.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Lab reports show that there was cystic-myxoid degeneration of the removed mitral valve.

This kind of degeneration is found in patients suffering from valve diseases related to rheumatic disease, endocarditis (infection of inner layer of the heart).

There was no growth of bacteria in the culture, so endocarditis was not the cause.

Hope this helps. Best regards.

Thank you very much for your answer, Doctor. Juat have a quick question, what is the cause of this degenerative? Ia it going to happen to anyone just like that even though no bcteria ? And now my mom's condition is unstable . She had many epiaodes (more than 20 times) so the doctor suggeated TCP (Transcutaneous Pacemaker) and if this condition persists they need temporary pacemaker and eventually permanent pacemaker. How come replacing the valve with mechanical valve did notvsolve the problem. Does ahe really need pacemaker of aome aort? Please kindly your detail explanation. Thank you so much for the dollow

Brief Answer:
Pacemaker is used to correct irregular heartbeat.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Degenative damage of mitral valve can happen in people suffering from rheumatic diseases ( arthritis eg.), a disease that affects connective tissue.

Transcutaneous pacemaker is used to correct cardiac ( heart ) rhythm (bradycardia eg.), and is not used to treat any valve dysfunction.

So, if your mother suffered from irregular or insufficient heartbeat, pacemaker is one of solutions.

Hope I helped you. Best regards.

Thank u so much for your kind and thorough answers, Doctor.

Just another quick question, after the surgeon performed the surgery, is thete any report given to us so that if patient go outside the country she can consult with the doctor outside the country based on the report given by the surgeon after operation. Because she might not have a chance to come back and check up with the previous cardiologist or surgeon that did her operation.

The other thing, depend on patient's condition, but let's say her condition is improving and good enough to travel, usually the normal recuperation time takes how long before patient (63 years old) can travel abroad (18 hours flight)?

And last thing, is it alright to insert permanemt pace maker directly to stabilize patient's heart condition instead of temporary pace maker that has a chance to be infected with bacteria if it inserted more than 1 week?
What is the best solution and possibility?

Thank u very much for answering my questions so far, doctor.
We really appreciate it very much

Brief Answer:
Documentation is an obligation in medical practice.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

There should be for sure a written report about your mother's disease history, examinations and procedures she went through.

This is a institutional obligation and should be completed by your mother's treating Doctor, and serves as a legitimate document to be used when in need.

If she could take a flight or not, this should be judged by your mother's treating Doctor according to health status.

In my opinion, a permanent pacemaker is better than a temporary one.

Hope I helped you. Best regards.
