Brief Answer:
Drugs MUST / in ADDITION to diet and life style changes

Detailed Answer:
Hi friend
Welcome to Health Care Magic

This level is very high and cannot be controlled by simple measures
They have a very limited and supportive role only

HDL is good cholesterol – higher, the better.
LDL is bad cholesterol – lower, the better. In the absence of any other risk factor 100 is ideal for LDL-C. In the presence of other diseases (especially Diabetes and/or established heart disease), 70 should be the aim.
Keep your weight to normal / even a little less
Quit smoking, if you are a smoker
Do regular EXERCISE – say walking or jogging - 30 minutes a day / at least 5 days in a week. Isometric exercise (like bull worker) is not recommended though .
Healthy FOOD is a must. Avoid saturated fats – coconut oil, palm oil, butter, ghee, full cream milk. Avoid junk foods in particular – French fries have palm oil / Pizza has cheese / XXXXXXX sweets are made in ghee.
Change to Poly-un-saturated oil – like sun flower oil. / Include Mono-un-saturated oil in diet – Olive oil.

Any drug from the Statin class is the first choice – ATORVASTATIN, for example. The starting dose is 20 mg after dinner … the maximal dose is 80 mg.
If in-spite of the drug, the level is high, you need to step up your dose of the statin.
If still elevated after the maximum dose, add another drug – like EZETIMIBE / rarely a third drug - FIBRATE.
But since all these are prescription drugs so you'll need appropriate prescription from your treating doctor.

Also keep in mind to check your Liver function routinely during Statin therapy

Repeat the Lipid Profile test in 2 months.

Brief Answer:
YES

Detailed Answer:
Hi

You should start the medicine straight away
It is preferably taken in the night / after supper / once a day
Life style changes are also absolutely necessary

Repeat the blood test after 6 to 8 weeks after full 14 hour fasting
The dose may have to be titrated and/or another drug may be added

Regards
