Brief Answer:
Your child has a gastrointestinal infection which needs antibiotics & ORS

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I am sorry to know that your child is not doing well. I have gone thorugh the report and it indicates an infection, probably bacterial. You need to give some antibiotic for 5 days but the mainstay of treatment in such cases is ORS. Unless the salts and water lost through loose stools is replenished adequately, dehydration may develop and complicate the matters. You need to monitor the urine output. If the child does not pass normal amounts of urine it means that adequate ORS is not being given and you need to increase the supplementation. Avoid giving milk for the time being. Give some zinc supplement like Zinconia syrup 5 ml once daily. You may give curd or yogurt. Try giving small amounts of food but do not force.

You will have to be patient as it may take a few days for the loose motion to stop. Till then continue giving ORS.

Feel free to write back in case of further queries, if any.

We spoke to our family doctor. She is recommending TaximO suspension.
Our baby weighs 17-18 kgs, so she is recommending 10ml. Is that ok?

Brief Answer:
Dose is correct for your child.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Your doctor has recommended the right medicine in right dose. 9 ml is actually the right dose but 10 ml is absolutely fine to be given. Give it twice a day for 5 days.
