What Does This Ultrasound Report During 40 Weeks Of Pregnancy Indicate?
Question: I did an ULTRASOUND OBSTETRICS of my wife AGE 21 and found live intrauterine pregnancy of 40 wks. & 6 days gestation in cephalic presentation Longitudinal lie and floating head is scanned at present.
Fetal cardiac activity well scanned seen FHR142 BPM four chambers scan appears normal.
PLACENTA Anterior upper segment Maturity Grade III Not Close to internal Cord interstation scanned normal.
Liquor volume is adequate for POG at present internal echoes are clear. AFI 11 cm
Fetal Biometry:
BPD = 93 MM 38 wks 0 days.
HC = 336 mm 38 weeks 4 days
AC = 342 mm 38 w. 1 days
FL = 72 mm.37 w. 0 days
Calculated ultrasound age (CUA) 37 weeks 3 days
Gestational Age (GA) 40 Weeks 6 days
EFW (Expected fetal weight 3349 Grams (+_) 502 Grams
LMP 26th Aug 2014
EDD (CUA) 26th XXXXXXX 2015
EDD (LMP) 2nd XXXXXXX 2015
IMPRESSION Normal fetal well-being Cephalic Presentation Longitudinal Lie Floating Head Placenta Anterior not close to internal OS Maturity Grade III AFI 11 cm
q1.Is the baby haed down now? EDD is already late and doctor confused us.
q2.Please advice us , what to do now?
q3.We should wait for labour pain or go for scissoring ?
q4.She is so young to deliver a child now so please advice the proceess so that both will be safe in
future.
q5. If Scissoring, then it will creat health problem to my wife. Please advice?

I saw the report and I understand your concerns. Following is my reply:
1) Head is not down. It is still floating.
2) You have to go for induction of labor means getting drugs to get labour pains.
3) after induction with drugs if no pain, you have to undergo Cesarean section.
4) All procedures are safe. It depends on situation which demands it.
5) Cesarean section will not cause health problems to your wife.
