Question: My son had an abdomen ultrasound and the impression is " increased parenchymal echogenicity of the liver which is compatible with hepatic steatosis or other hepatocellular parenchymal disease. What does it mean..?

Your son's findings may suggest fatty liver.Fatty liver is indicated by increased echotexture of liver.
Fatty liver may be due to many causes like obesity,hepatitis,alcohol intake,sedentary life etc.
Fatty liver is a reversible condition.It may reverse with treatment of underlying cause.
He may need clinical correlation and few investigations.He may need routine hemogram,liver function test,lipid profile and random blood sugar estimation.

He should go for exercise and brisk walk regularly.Avoid red meat and high fat milk products.
Don't take much non-veg food.

He may need few medicines after blood tests.
