What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Question: I have been advised after one incident of spotting and a subsequent vsginal ultrasound that my endometrial lining is 2-3 cm thick. I am 72 years old. My blood work is fine, I have no pain and have only had that one incident of spotting. My ob/gin suggests a d and c. I have extreme anxiety because of multiple traumas in my life. Is there a simpler way to treat this at this point that would not be so anxiety producing...I am not handling this well.
Brief Answer:
D&C is needed to rule out malignancy.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
An endometrial lining of 2-3 cm is too thick to ignore. D&C is the only way to rule out any malignancy. This is a simple procedure and once malignancy is ruled out then there is no need to worry. Your gynecologist has suggested you correctly. Do follow her advise.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
