Question : my 4month old son has problem of undescended right testical . as per sonography report it is at lateral end of canal. is there any exercise or any other option to bring it down to its position except surgery? how long should we wait before going for surgery?
Brief Answer:
Suggestions on undescended testis
Detailed Answer:
HI...I understand your concern.
Un-descended testis should be treated when the patient is approximately 6 months old.
But now we are doing at at an earlier age too - based on -
(1) Rarity of spontaneous descent after age 6 months and
(2) Possible improvements in fertility that early intervention may confer.
latest concept - The testicle won't drop after 3 months of age, so the only treatment choice is surgery. Surgery is recommended at or after 6 months of age. The timing takes into account when the child is able to handle anesthesia and the surgery. Drugs or hormone treatment aren't useful.
