Question : Hi I just saw a heart specialist today. I have a slight heart murmur - so my doctor sent me for a ecg (the kind where they view heart with ultra sound) Right atrium was enlarged. I have two slightly squeaky valves. I do not notice any problems - bike 100 km a week - xc ski - I am going for a further ultra sound where they put a device down my esophagus. How much should I be worried. Doctor said not to make any changes in my life style.

Brief Answer:
Let the TEE report come
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This is Dr Sameer, cardiologist.
2D Echo which you did sometimes does not fully determine the problem in heart. So we do a better echo through the transesophageal route called as TEE. So let its report come than we will decide further course of action. Till than if you are not sympathetic ( like having breathing difficulty, chest pain) than you can continue your normal schedule.
