What Does This Ultrasound Report Of Uterus Indicate?

Posted on Tue, 5 May 2015
Question: Hsg test report.

My name is XXXXX. i am 40years old. I married in the year 2007. I have one baby girl born in 2007. After that I am unable to become pregnant until now. My HSG test report read as follows:
- cervical canal and cavum uteri are normal.
- the two fallopian tubes are well outlined.
- the right is normal in all respects.
- the left is beaded and permits limited spillage of contrast.
- its features are in keeping with peritoneal and perifimbrial adhesions.

My question is what does that mean? Am I not fit to get pregnancy again?. Does it exist any medical solution? what shall I do?
Thanks and Best regards
XXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Spasm of fallopian tubes likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXX,

I understand your concerns about Left tube limited contrast spillage.

There are 2 possibilities of your HSG report :

1. There is temporary spasm of fallopian tube on left side which lead to limited contrast.

2. There is possible infection of left tube (with earlier STD) which has damaged it. Hence you have damaged left tube which is not healthy as per HSG report. You seem to have conceived with right tube last time.

3. Only way to confirm this would be to get diagnostic laparoscopy done which will accurately diagnose the tubal status. There is no medical treatment for this unfortunately.

4. Even if one tube is presumably not healthy and functional, you can conceive with one tube only.
No problem in getting pregnant.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Brief Answer:
IVF is a better option

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Your hormonal report seem to be fine.

40 years is little higher age to conceive.

In view of increased age and damaged on tube, I suggest you go ahead with IVF ( test tube baby) treatment for conceiving another ababy as soon as possible.

Let me know if you have any more queries.

Regards,
Dr. Mahesh Koregol
