Brief Answer:
Only medical treatment needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, let me assure you, that a 5mm stone at the UVjunction, seen on an ultrasound scan, does not need surgery.
Upto 90% stones less than 6mm in size, will pass spontaneously, if you take 3 litres of liquids daily. That will flush out the stone.
If you have severe pain with nausea and vomitting, that can be treated with pain relieving tablets or injections.
Maintain about 15 glasses liquids daily.
If you take potassium, magnesium, citrate tablets or syrup twice daily, it helps to dissolve the stone.
Hope your doubt is cleared. Wish you good health.
