Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2016
Question: Hello,

Hello,

Here is the results of my urinalysis from yesterday:
RBC-0-3/HPF
WBC-none seen/HPF
Squad Epi-few/LPF
Bacteria-0-3/HPF
UA Micro Note-abnormal

I have back pain on both sides. According to the web this is probably kidney disease. What do you think?

Brief Answer:
UTI, plenty of water, tablet norflox

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query and the report.

All the values are fine but few bacteria noted, indicating towards UTI.
I would have suggested you to drink plenty of water and drink cranberry juice which is found to be helpful in UTI. I usually in my clinic for UTI prescribe tablet norflox 400 mg twice daily for 5 days. It is prescription based medicine, you need to see a local doctor for valid prescription. This measures will be sufficient.

To find out if there is any kidney related issues, we have to go for few more tests like KUB X-ray ( to rule out stones in urinary tract) Ultrasound abdomen ( kidney pathology).

Based on the information, we can go for UTI treatment, and if there is no improvement then we can go for further tests.

I would like to know few more information like since when you are facing this problem?
Is there any his of UTI ?
Is there any burning while you pass urine?

Hope this helps.
If you have further queries ill be glad to address them.
Take care

To answer your questions, I have never had a UTI in my life. When I urinate there is no pain/burning sensation, but there is often a feeling of relief and sometimes the pain in my back is reduced for a while. I do have a history of kidney stones. I once had one blasted ultrasonic. I have passed several stones over the past 10 years.
