Question : I have noticed a sputum discharge (from clearing my throat) that is white, solid consistency for this past day. Two weeks ago I completed a GP prescribed Augmentum dosage for a flu-like congestion with presence of lung rales and it all cleared up after a week. I do not have any chest congestion and have been taking Panadol for shoulder aches (I am 88 years). Would the white sputum be a result of the Panadol I took earlier this morning? or could it be something I should bring to the attetion of my GP?
Thank you for your advice.

                                    Brief Answer:
it's not the panadol
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
the sputum is probably the result of the infection. Sometimes, after a respiratory tract infection, mild symptoms like cough and sputum may persist for a while (up to two months). If your general condition is getting better, the sputum should not be considered as a serious event. If this is the prelude of more and worsening sputum or other symptoms, then you should definitely talk to your GP. Otherwise you should just wait for your respiratory tract to clear the remnants of the infection.
