default
Posted on Tue, 31 Mar 2015
Question: I got a blood test done recently and the following values were beyond the range:
1. Eosinophils Count - 8.6 %
2. Absolute Eosinophil Count - 0.85 10~9/L
3. Immunoglobulin-E(IgE) Count - 236.68 IU/mL

I am generally allergic to dust. Please help me understand what these numbers mean and what are the remedial steps I should take?

Brief Answer:
Finding suggests raised eosinophil count.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Your finding suggests raised eosinophil count.
Normal eosinophil count is 1–6% and it is less than 350 cells per microliter.
Elevated eosinophil count is called as eosinophilia.
It may be due to many reasons like allergy, worm infection etc.

It may be due to dust allergy in your case.
It is better to take prophylactic measures in such cases. You should avoid dust and smoke. You can use mask in dusty places.
Indwelling rooms should be well ventilated and aerated.Avoid cold, damp and dark places.

During exacerbation, you may need anti-histaminics and antibiotics.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your query.
Further queries are most welcome.
