Brief Answer:
Would be better to be seen before doing anything to or with the eye

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It is possible that the intermittent blurred vision with reading is due to dry eyes though it can also indicate a deficit your vision (eg may need glasses). Other causes are farsightedness or nearsightedness, neurological (nerve related) conditions of the eye, presbyopia (cannot focus on near objects as get older)

Because the eye is so sensitive and injury to eye can occur by using unnecessary meds or treatments, it would be best to be seen so that the exact problem can be found. Glasses not medication , may be needed

If you have other symptoms of dry eye- gritty feeling, redness, sensitivity to light, stinging feeling in the eye- then you can consider drops for dry eye. These would not cause any harm and in some cases, may be over the counter.

Other than this, it would be best to have the eyes assessed before using any other medication.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions.
