Question : I have arthritis of knee and knee cap. I fell on it in December last year. I have been in physical therapy for a month and the muscles below the knee hurt and XXXXXXX after having deep heat treatment and massage. what
else could I be dealing with? XXXX

Could be ligament and meniscal injury also.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Since you have arthritis of knee joint and had a fall, arthritis would have been aggravated and cause increased pain and stiffness. Since you have consulted an orthopedic surgeon and X-rays were done so I presume that there is no fracture.

There is a possibility that You might have injured some ligaments or meniscus in the knee joint, which can be diagnosed with MRI knee joint.

In addition to physical therapy, I would suggest pain killers and knee support.
