Brief Answer:
Colon Cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hello.Delighted to be able to help.
In Dukes C1 the tumor has spread to nearby lymph nodes.
Only with surgery, the percentage of healing is minimal, adjuvant chemotherapy increased the percentage of healing.
When the patient is elderly or suffering from severe pathologies (diabetes, severe heart disease, renal failure) the Chemotherapy can cause more side effects than benefits, only in these cases chemotherapy is not used.

Currently,Chemotherapy and surgery and are unique effective treatments ,there are not other therapeutic alternative with scientific evidence.
Adjuvant chemotherapy has shown to increase the the percentage of healing and years of survival. When due to patient age, pathologies that he suffers
(diabetes, heart failure ....) or patient-family initiative, chemotherapy is not applied, decreases the percentage of healing and years of survival.
If the patient is 80 years old is reasonable not to apply chemotherapy.
If the patient is 60 years old and he not suffers severe pathologies,I recommend to apply chemotherapy.

CEA values below 5 are normal, but the increase of 3 to 4 may means mild progression of disease. If your father is 65 and not suffers severe pathologies,
I recommend chemotherapy because increase the percentage of healing and years of survival.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.Delighted to be able to help.
The CEA levels after surgery indicates the progression of the disease.
In this case the elevation of the CEA is minimal, may indicate mild progression of the disease, but is within normal limits (less than 5), you should not worry
If you finally reject chemotherapy, periodic measurements of CEA will be necessary to know if the disease is progressing.
