Question : I had a 1.5in basal cell removed from my back - one of several over the years. For the first time, I was given Cephalexin by this doctor and question the need.

Brief Answer:
antibiotics is not part of routine management

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

prescribing antibiotics is not part of routine management of such cases. I don't know why you were given an antibiotic but this is not a word against it. I suppose the colleague prescribed it for a reason, although I can't say which reason...

Kind Regards!

Thank you, I do not plan on taking them. There was no patient/doctor discussion, I was just handed the script.

Brief Answer:
you're welcome

Detailed Answer:
You're welcome!

If I were you, I would ask the doctor for the reason. For example the area might have been infected (besides the tumor I mean). In any case I don't foresee any damage to your health but it's always better if you cooperate with the treating doctor.

Best wishes!
