Brief Answer:
Pros and cons of every diet

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Taking into consideration the fact that you have high blood pressure, which I am assuming is under control, weight loss is one of the most important steps toward keeping blood pressure under control, which may even lead to decreased medication dosage. However, this needs to be done very gradually and under your doctor's supervision.

The jenny-craid and the Nutrisystem are well-balanced diet programs which involve pre-prepared healthy meals and are very good for a gradual weight loss. However, despite the cost of these programs, my concern as a doctor is that you become dependent on these pre-prepared meals, rather than learning to choose and prepare the meals yourself, which would be a more reliable long-term lifestyle change. The concern is that after the program is over, you will go back to your previous diet and lifestyle.

Whereas the ketogenic diet is a very good and effective diet, however people with high blood pressure need to be very cautious while implementing it. Here is why. In the beginning of this diet, in order to avoid some side effects, patients are advised to slightly increase the amount of salt intake, which is not advisable in people with high blood pressure. However, if closely followed by your doctor, the ketogenic diet can be a long-term lifestyle change that may prove very effective in weight loss, may significantly lower your blood pressure and may decrease the doses of the medication you are taking.

I strongly recommend that you first talk to your doctor about the diet plan you choose and implement it under their supervision.

I hope this answers your question. You are welcome to ask any further questions you might have.
Take care.
