Question : My husband was diagnosed with anemic chronic disease. What does that mean?
Brief Answer:
Reduced hemoglobin in blood
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
Anemia is due to reduced hemoglibin content of blood. It can be caused from decreased iron and other hematopoietic agents or from loss of blood from the gastrointestinal tract. This is often a hidden loss and is revealed by testing stools for occult blood. Another cause which is uncommon is a slow hemolytic process which break down red blood cells.
His doctor will investigate, determine the cause and after treatment, the anemia will be corrected.
