What Is Epolam Used For?

Question: My Pschyc has put me on another pill, I think he said Epolam. Used for fits...I am currently on 30mg Valium/day, 150mg Dothep/day, Ord release Seroquel 900mg/day, Controlled release Seroquel 600mg/day, 20mg/day Zyprexa. I don't need all these anti-psychotics, I only use them to sleep. They do absolutely nothing. My problems are Anxiety related and all I need is Alprazolam and Dothiepin. I was being dosed 6mg/day Xanax until their schedule was changed. I am not happy on my current regime, the only drug I need of these above is the Valium which is only a substitute for the Alprazolam and my Dothiepin. The rest are only being used, as far as I am concerned, to help me sleep because of the reduced Alpprazolam I am sick of my doctor adding prescription drugs, it seems like he is trialing drugs to see if my anxiety will react to them. I was well adjusted when I was on Alprazolam and Dothiepin and had no side effects from them. I was prescribed Alprazolam for 20 years and they have tried to get the Seroquel to take over its effects. I have been on the Valium for about 6 months but It doesn't have the same calming effect for my Anxiety Disorder and Agoraphobia. I would like to be prescribed the Alprazolam at a reduced amount to between 2 and 4mg/day. I have gone from 5 tablets a day to 11 a day and they are not as reliable as the original 5. The reason they have taken me off Alprazolam is because it has gone from an S4 to an S8 in NSW, and one doctor employs most of the others in Tamworth and he dislikes the medication. It is still available with the exception of Xanax.

Brief Answer: Clarifications Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. Its unfortunate that you have landed with up witch such a disabling anxiety disorder. You need to uderstand a few things about the anxiety disorders. First the treatment should focus on healing the disorder and secondly on symptomatic treatment until the healing takes place. The drugs for healing are antidepressants such as paroxetine or escitalopram or venlafaxine or antipsychotic as well like quetiapine or olanzapine. And while the healing takes place symptoms are temporarily controlled by clonazepam, propranolol, valium etc. Earlier alprazolam (xanax) was used frequently but later on it was noticed that alprazolam causes a lot of problem with dependence cause along with the sedation it also gives a "high" which other benzodiazepines were not giving. Hence it is not popular and moreover it was just for symptomatic treatment as the "healing" part is still the same. Many psychiatrists try different drugs and of all them I like the combination of paroxetine and clonazepam for anxiety. This works very nicely and free of addiction potentiating xanaxas well. Along with this treatment there is an option of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This therapy is taken by either a psychologist or a psychiatrist in which the therapist identifies impaired cognitions (Thoughts) and try to correct them. They are 15-20 min weekly session and there should be around 8-10 sessions to help you with your illness. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you. If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
