Question : Hi! I am trying to get answers on what is going on with my lymph nodes. I have a swollen lymph node under my chin, one in my neck/jawline and another in my left shoulder/trapezoid area. I may have more but these are visible. Please see the medical information i have uploaded in my file. I do not feel comfortable with the CT results after the ultrasound results came back with conflicting info. I feel something serious may be going on and would like advice, please.

Brief Answer:
Nothing significant

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts and relevant reports that you have posted the promonant Submandibular Lymph node on Right side could be due to subclinical infection of the Submandibular Salivary Gland,

Rest of the tests reports are well within normal reange and nothing positive or significant pathology could be detetcted .

The promonant Submandibular Lympoh node could be treated with antibiotic like Augmentin twice daily for aweek .along with Betadine Gargles.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions, I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

Thank you so much for your response. I am very grateful for your help. My concern was if it was cancerous. No one is telling me anything and they even had me go to the ER for further tests. That had me quite concerned.
On another note, I also have a current UTI (e. Faecalis), so the doctor put me on Macrobid but it doesn’t appear to have helped. The doctor then put me on Levofloxacin 500mg, once daily, but I had bad side effects after one pill, so stopped. Now the doctor is prescribing Ciprofloxacin 250mg BID. My question is, will that one work for both issues or should I ask for the augmentin? I want to take what will be best to work on everything. Also, how do I do the Betadine gargle? What is the dilution rate, etc?
Thanks again!

Brief Answer:
It is unlikely to be cancerous .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .
Islated enlarged single lymph node is always infective in origin .Cancerous lymph node always presents with hard large lump involving many lymph nodes simultaneously and can be detected in CT Scan .

Since you have already tried Livofloxacin take Augmentin twice daily .It will take care of both UTI and Enlarged infected lymph node too.

Mix 2 Teaspoonful of Betadine in glass of water for gargles.

Thanks and Regards.

Great, thank you! I’m not sure if you saw in the Ultrasound report that there are actually 3 enlarged lymph nodes: one under the chin, one in the jawline and the other in the shoulder area. The CT report missed two of the lymph nodes so I asked my doctor to have someone re-read the images since some were missed.
That being said, I feel better that it is due to a sinus infection and appreciate your advice. I didn’t have any symptoms of sinus issues until I started gargling and am also using a netti pot for my sinuses. That seemed to trigger something because I feel pretty bad now (headache, eyes ache, nausea, throat scratchy and swollen, etc) but glad I just started the antibiotics and will continue gargling with the dilution you recommend.
Thanks again!
