Brief Answer:
OSMF, Intralesional injections, surgery

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query,
As far as the Oral sub mucous fibrosis is considered, it is not a cancer but it is a precancerous condition(if you dont stop the habits, the it can lead to cancer) or a potentially malignant disorder.
Depending upon the stages of oral submucous fibrosis, we can treat the condition. If it is stage 1 and 2, we can treat by giving antioxidants and intralesional injections with steroids and hyalurinidase. If it is stage 3 and 4, then it can be treated with intralesional injections or by surgery.
It is not a reversible phenomenon to to say exactly how much time it takes to become normal, but in 6-8weeks, the mouth opening will increase gradually if you take injections twice a week for 6-8weeks. If you are going for surgery, it will increase the mouth opening but, after some time there can be post surgical fibrosis, and again limited mouth opening will be there.
These are the possible treatment plans depending on the description of the condition said by you. If you can upload the images of mouth opening and the oral cavity pictures, i can tell you exactly, what treatment you can go for.
I hope my answer will help you. Take care.

Thanks for your feed back.

It is against the policy to give my personal e-mail id, So you can upload the images along with this question itself, Otherwise you could send them as attachment to YYYY@YYYY with the subject line as "Attn, for Dr. Mahesh Kumar".

It would be much easier to upload the images along with this question itself, you should be able to see an option called, "attach reports" on the right hand side of your dashboard/inbox, you can use that.

Take care.

According to the images you have uploaded, Your mouth opening is approximately around 1.5-2cm. So i advise you to quit the habits and go for intralesional injections that will increase the mouth opening by around 1-1.5cm. If you are not happy with the treatment out come with injections later you can go for surgery. But surgery can initially give a good result but, again it can result in post surgical fibrosis, which is worst to treat. Consult a good oral physician and get it treated.
Take care. If any queries are there, reply me back

Brief Answer:
normal mouth opening is 4.5-5cm.

Detailed Answer:
Thank for replying.
The normal mouth opening is 4.5-5cm. I recommend intralesional injections initially, if there are no improvement with intralesional injections, then i advise you to go for surgical modality.

In Oral submucous fibrosis, the mucosa of the oral cavity will get fibrosed resulting in the formation of fibrosed bands. In surgery, we excise or release the fibrosed bands and place a graft over that area. (like nasolabial graft in place of the fibrosed bands).

Nothing to worry about facial appearance, the excision of the bands will be done by taking access through the oral cavity. But the surgery has some complications like post surgical fibrosis. So consult a good oral physician for intralesional injections and a good oral maxillofacial surgeon for surgery.

Discuss about the advantages and disadvantages and complications associated with the above said treatments before starting the treatment.

I hope my answer will help you. Take care.
