Question : What is pulse oximetry?
Brief Answer:
Its a graphical representation of red blood cells oxygen saturation
Detailed Answer:
Hi there, Welcome to HCM.
Well pulse oximetry (SPO2) is a graphical representation of red blood cells oxygen saturation .
Generally it's measured by a probe attached to the body surface with rich capillaries i.e. tip of your finger/earlobe and it has Infrared emitting which measures the saturation and show it in a graphical as well as numerical value.
Normal value of SPO2 of a healthy adult is 94-100% on room air.
Let me know if there's any more queries regarding.
