Question : my husband had colon surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in the colon and and the stomach lymph nodes 4 days ago. He was born with congenital lymphedema. He is 66 and in recovery at the hospital very weak, has little to no immunity system. What options can you suggest since the cancer is in stage three, but hasn't yet spread, as best we know, over the entire body. Chemo is not an option, he is too weak. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Palliative therapy
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As your husband is suffering from stage 3 colon cancer but is too weak he could try oral chemotherapy such as capecitabine which has less side effects than injectable intravenous chemotherapy.
Otherwise palliative therapy meaning supportive medications as per his symptoms are the best treatment option for him.
