Bisphosphonates is the first line treatment.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The treatment of Paget's disease is given according to the severity of the problem. Prevention of complications and to prevent further progression of the problem is the main aim of treatment.
Drug therapy for Paget disease should include bisphosphonate treatment with serial monitoring of bone markers. Response to therapy is indicated by reduction of symptoms and decrease in levels of BSAP (a bone formation marker) and deoxypyridinoline, C -telopeptide, or N -telopeptide (bone resorption markers).
In addition to this regular calcium and Vitamin D3 supplements are also needed.
The second line of treatment includes calcitonin. The dosage and treatment regimen varies with the patient. You can consult your orthopedician to decide the regimen best for you.
I hope this answers your query.
