Question : I suffered a mild concussion July 22 and 9 staples in the back of my head. Staples were removed July 31.
I have been sleeping on 2 foam pillows to keep my head elevated but lately have reduced to 1 foam pillow and 1 feather pillow. Head elevated due to dizziness when lying prone or supine, so I avoid these positions.
The plastic surgeon who removed the staples said it could be another 6 wks before dizziness subsides.
How to treat this dizziness...I live alone and handling this solo is not fun. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Beta-histine to be added...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are in. I understand that facing dizziness alone is not easy.

Now, if the doctor said that would need another 6 weeks before dizziness subsides, that means that nothing serious happened inside your head/brain.

To ease/prevent feeling dizzy, I advise to:
- avoid quick movements of your head (quick turning on sides/or up-and-down)
- take beta-histine (you need prescription for that; so, if you have not taken it until now, discuss it further with your doctor to start medication)
- anti-inflammatory drugs can help: piroxicam/naproxen/tenoxicam/ibuprofen, etc.
- try to increase fluids intake
- monitor your blood pressure/blood sugar at the time you are feeling dizzy, record the results for further evaluation by your doctor.

Wish fast recovery!
