What Is The Cause And Treatment For Infertility?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Jul 2014
Question: I am 41 years old and have struggled for the past 2 years with conceiving another child. The last and final test I took was an AMH and my result was <.3. Which basically tells me I don't have any eggs left. This cycle however I had ovulation pain like I used to. I thought I possibly ovulated. I took several pregnancy tests and all are negative. Yesterday was 4 days before my period is due and I started with what I thought is a period. However it's not red at all but just brown and clumpy. Now today it's hardly even there. I do feel crampy but not a lot. I don't understand what's going on. Even with lower than normal AMH levels I would like to add that my cycles are like clock work. Which is also strange if I'm not ovulating.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear!
I understand your concern that conceiving another child is so difficult in your age .
But is possible that you dont ovulate even though you have a regular cycle because both the quality and the quantity of eggs has decline.
A menstrual cycle where ovulation doesn't occur is called an anovulatory cycle.
When a woman is anovulatory, she can't get pregnant because there is no egg to be fertilized.
This is true because your AMH is below 3 .

Brown discharge are caused from hormonal imbalance ,lack of progesterone.

Hi!

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again!
Among women after 40 years old the opportunity to conceive in one year is 5%.
But being in TTC for 2 years and having low ovarian reserve (AMH<3),I think that is not impossible but very very difficult to conceive naturally.
But you should keep in mind that with increasing age you have more chance for:
Placenta previa,miscarriages ect
The risk of having chromosomal defects will increase with every year for a pregnant woman of over 40 years old.
Hence you should contact with a infertility specialist.
