What Is The Cause And Treatment For Mouth Ulcers?
Aphthous ulcers.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
The sores you described are called as aphthous ulcers and are about the size of 3 mm and are recurrent. They are called aphthoid if are larger.
The most simple explanation is: there is a loss of integrity / normal strength of the mucosa hence there is an easy ulceration.
The treatment revolves around this concept and is usually beneficial.
You are rightly informed about the stomach problems. All the colon problems are not symptomatic, meaning they may not give symptoms about abdomen or motion or so. This does not mean that there are problems you can have due to stomach problems.
Many vitamins are absorbed only from the large bowel, some are converted to absorbable formats only after breakdown by the normal colonic bacteria.
One theory says about the integrity of the colonoc mucosa is not maintained , hence there is no proper absorption of many essential elements needed for the body.
So the treatment s aimed in such a way that the absorption is improved.
I would suggest the following treatment to all my patients with all better results. You may try this after consultation with your Doctor.
*A 5 day course of an antibiotic that acts on the colon, metronidazole.
*Vitamin A and D in therapeutic dosage and to be continued with multivitamins also called as anti-oxidants. These multivitamins to be continued for a long time.
*Probiotics
*Oral steroids to reduce the inflammation and may actually work as a potent anti-allergic for all such problems where there is no definite answer to the problem. They should be taken in a tapering dose, (your Doctor knows about this)
* avoid too hot and too cold foods and beverages.
*Stop chilly, spicy and particulary outside food.
* No foods and beverages which are known to contain the preservatives.
* Boiled (for more than 20 minutes after the boiling starts) and cooled water.
*To discuss for any symptoms or problems with your Doctor even though you may be thinking that they are not related.
*You may have to repeat the courses as required for 3 times, whenever required.
* stress-free life style.
The intensity, severity and frequency of reappearance of such problems will go down and may disappear too.
Thank you for your elaborate prescription for my first query. However, I need a couple of further clarifications:
1. A month ago when I had an ulcer which lasted very I had consulted a doctor locally and was advised Bifilac Cap and XXXXXXX Paste. He said it is stomatitis. I just wanted to understand is your recommendation similar.
2. The recent ulcer recovered rather quickly and I don't have any now. But given the colon problem you referred to, should I take these medicines now itself? (The ones that you prescribed). Could you kindly also give me the exact names of the medicines?
(Keeping in mind that my primary concern is that I get these ulcers frequently, so maybe the colon issue is persisting??)
*A 5 day course of an antibiotic that acts on the colon, metronidazole.
*Vitamin A and D in therapeutic dosage and to be continued with multivitamins also called as anti-oxidants. These multivitamins to be continued for a long time.
*Probiotics
Secondly, should I take these medicines whenever I have ulcers? And, the vitamins and probiotics should I continue taking for some time. If so, how long?"
as noted.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
I will try my best to clarify.
Bifilac is the probiotic and continue it for about a month. This can be taken for as long as yo want as per the the Company information. XXXXXXX paste is good in acute cases , work swell in the initial period, acts only locally , has no role to avoid further attacks, You may stop it the moment pain is gone.
Good to know that the recent ulcer recovered rather quickly.
Antibiotic like cefixime and metronidazole, dosage in consultation with your Doctor please. Take these for 5 days and stop. You may repeat if you get any ulcers or intestinal problems in future.
Vitamin A 50,000 IU capsule twice daily for 3 days and Calcirol XXXXXXX once a week for 3 weeks. Please consult your Doctor.
You may please ask your Doctor or a Pharmacist - he will be happy to tell you the names of the Anti-oxidants available in your locality. ( since there are so many and names will depend upon the availability in your area).you may continue them for a month and can continue for 6 months.
Bifilac you must be already taking.
Last query already answered. Take these as advised.
Wishing you good health.
