What Is The Cause And Treatment For Perrennial Allergies?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Feb 2015
Question: Perrennial Allergies: No Diagnostics Done. Everything now with Systemic Pruritus--Especially on Scalp but is non discriminating.
Bug Bites Local Reaction-Mosquitos cause mild hives by itching, Bees lead to Local Rxn. Benadryl 50mg usually cuts the crap down.

Current Tx: 20-30mg Cetirizine, Pseudoephedrine PRN, Fluticasone Nasal, Montelukast 10mg, Elastat, Ipratropium Br. This year has been bad and is getting worse.

Is there a way to cut down on the medication, and maybe some labs you could recommend? Any Additional Questions for me that could help clarify anything?

[[Im not a medical professional-Mom was a CNA and called me Dr. Eyes N. Fart when I was younger because the thought I had no insight. Its funny now that im 24 and nailing diagnoses and Tx. Could lead to a disadvantage but MDs like some "interns". Let me know if it becomes bothersome but I like a challenge.]]

Brief Answer:
Get allergic testing and serum IgE level testing done

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query.
I went through your symptoms and medicines I.e anti allergics.
At this juncture I can suggest you to undergo allergic testing for the known substances of which you are sensitive. If the test is positive for one or two things you can get help by desensitisation immunotherapy.
Second thing is blood test for total IgE level. If it is raised one more option will be anti IgE treatment I.e omalixumab injection.

Discuss these options with your pulmonologist/allergy specialist. Till then continue the ongoing medications.

Best wishes
