default
Posted on Fri, 30 May 2014
Question: Hi, I've been having deep depression, overwhelming feelings of sadness, stay tired all the time, so tired at times that I feel like I'm going to pass out if I don't go to bed right then. I get so frustrated because I can't ever seem to keep any plans that I make. I have quit jobs like it was nothing. I have Fibromyalgia, shich I take Prozac, Klonapin, and flexeril for. I also take Lortab for pain. Whenever I take a Lortab, it changes my mood to very happy. Then a few hours later I crash and feel severe depression again. I can't function on a daily basis anymore. All I want to do is sleep and I really feel tired. Is this Bipolar?

Brief Answer:
Its a major depressive disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
From what you have stated it is quite clear that you are having a depressive episode. It may not be a bipolar moos disorder. Depression can occur with regular stress and it can also occur biologically without any stress as well. You need proper treatment for the same. There are various effective therapies for depression like fluoxetine, venlafaxine, bupropion, mirtazapine or escitalopram and they are all very effective and mostly safe. You are already on fluoxetine and but if your illness is not responding to the fluoxetine then you need to switch the antidepressant to one the above mentioned ones.
If you are averse to the drug therapies then there is also an option of cognitive behavioural therapy. This therapy is taken by either a psychologist or a psychiatrist in which the therapist identifies impaired cognitions (Thoughts) and try to correct them. They are 15-20 min weekly session and there should be around 8-10 sessions to help you with your illness.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
