Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
The cost of copper-t is varies between institutions. In government institutes in XXXXXXX copper-t is inserted free of charge. In private hospitals, you will need to give the charge of copper-t itself, and the fees of doctor and fees of procedure.
Intrauterine devices are mainly of 2 types. Copper-t is copper impregnated and can cost between 400-500 rs. Mirena is hormonal and can cost upto 8000 rs.
The major side effect of copper-t is excessive menstrual bleeding and that of mirena is lesser menstrual bleeding than normal. The menstrual periods tend to normalise in a few months after insertion. Other side effects that can happen are infection, vaginal discharge, pain abdomen, backache etc. We need to change the inserted device in 2-5 years.
Copper-t insertion is an out-patient procedure and the person does not require to stay at the hospital.
Hope it helps.
