What Is The Cure For Pelvic Pain Radiating Till Groin And Lower Back. Should I Go For Ultrasound?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Dec 2013
Question: I am having pain in my right pelvic area that radiates to groin and lower back. The pain becomes intense after pressing on the area. Ibuprofen, heat and ice don't provide relief. I have undergone many tests but no answer. From a GI perspecrtive we have ruled out everything. . No colon cancer, colitis, crohns, appendicitis or kidney stones. I had a ct scan and the only thing that they noted was a 2cm cyst on right ovary. I had a miscarriage on 10/8 that required 2 d&c (10/9 ans 10/23). The pain started within a week of the second D&C. My gyn doesnt believe it is cancer but can't figure it out. I dont have an infection, uti, bladder infection. She did a vaginal ultrasound and hysteroscopy (camera image view od uterus). Neither came back abnormal. What could this be? Should I request an US that isn't transvaginal?

The symptoms started after my second D&C on 10/25. My flow is off because of the miscarriage. My cylce has not returned. In general, my cycle has only been normal when on birth control but waa told it was becauae i was a runner. That said i have not exercised reguarly since the birth of my first child in july 2012. My menstrual cycle is not overly painful but again i havent had a cycle since before i became pregnant in August. That peegnancy resulted in a miscarriage. The cause was due to a missing chromosome. I do have frequent bouts of diarrhea but have that for as long as i can remember. No laproscopy. No recurrent fever, discharge (i do have aome white discahrge but no odor with it). No serious vulval itching but i do have that from time to time. Not enough that it ever made me concerned. No treatment for this problem. Ibuprofen but without mych improvement.

Brief Answer: could be pelvic infection. Detailed Answer: Hi, I apologize for the late response; I was away from my computer due to unavoidable reasons. Coming back to your question, after analyzing your answers I feel all your symptoms could be due to pelvic infection. Scan wont confirm the diagnosis, its a clinical diagnosis. There is no need to repeat the scan. As your scan is normal, and even clinical examination is normal its highly unlikiely to be cancer. Kindly do not worry. What I suggest you is only symptomatic treatment. Also I suggest urine microscopy and culture to rule out any urine infection. I usually give DOXYCYCLINE antibiotic course + buscopan tablets (antispasmodics) for similar complaints and follow up the patient after 1 week to see if the symptoms subside. Please ask if you have more questions. If you are satisfied, please make sure that your ACCEPT my answer so that I receive credit. Good luck!!

They did rule out bladder infection this week. Understanding that, do you think it may be neurological? I do have a small lump that is really close to area/fold between pelvis and thigh. Groin? Sorry dont know my anatomy well. The worst part of my pain is that area to about 1 inch going towards center. The pain is half way up pelvis. Thoughts?

Brief Answer: Unlikely to be neurological Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXX, Thank you for the follow up question. Regarding your lump it seems to be enlarged lymphnode, but can be confirmed only after examination. As the pain is of acute onset, after D&C its unlikely to be of neurological origin. I still stick on to my diagnosis of PELVIC INFECTION and advise you a course of antibiotics. If the pain still persists your doctor might even advise you higher modality investigation like MRI to rule out any other pathology. Please ask if you have more questions. Brief Answer: Could be simple acidity Detailed Answer: Hi, You need to be clinically evaluated to know the exact cause for this symptom. Sometimes just simple acidity can present with similar complaint, you can try some antacid syrup or tablet for time being. Personally I feel you should visit a doctor to rule out any other problem. I also advise you to drink lot of water, avoid spicy food, take lot of fruit juices. Hope you will be alright. In case of any doubt, I will be available for follow-ups.
