Question : Hello I am traveling in South XXXXXXX 2 months ago I was treat for Giadari with (2) 500mg does of metrocaps twice a day for 7 days. Today two months later I was diagnosed with A Histoliticia. I was prescribed one 400mg dose of albendazole. 1 400mg does sufficient?

Albendazole is ineffective.

Hi Mam,

I understand your concern.

Albendazole is not an effective drug for Amoebiasis

Metronidazole is an excellent drug which cures amoebiasis.

Albendazole 400 mg is both ineffective and inadequate.

The standard prescribed dosages are as below.

Metronidazole 750 mg PO q8hr for 7 days.

Please note these drugs have to be taken under strict medical supervision.
