What Is The Dosage Of Augmentin For Ear Infection?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Jan 2015
Question: My 3.5 month son developed ear infection. Doctor suggested to give Taxim-o for 3 days (8 drops x 2 times). It has improved now, the fluid has become little thicker now.
I met the doctor after completing 3 days of medicine.
Now the doctor has suggested to stop Taxim-o and give Augmentine DUO 2.5 ml twice a day. I feel this is too much quantity for a 3.5 month baby. Should I go with doctor suggestion?
Please help me with your input.

Brief Answer:
It could be 1 - 1.5 ml twice a day

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

The general dose could be 1 or 1.5 ml twice a day. There must be some confusion or the doctor would have kept the dose higher to kill bacteria. Thus I would suggest that you see the doctor again and recheck the doses.
