Question : I am 61 & 7 months. I went to a walk in clinic today for some pain I was having in my neck. The doctor diagnosed it as muscle spasms. He prescribed the following Flexaril 10 mg for 3 weeks ( 10 TID PAN ) Tylenol 1000 for 3 weeks ( 1000 TID ) I have had in my opinion mild pain in my neck. I was taking some Naproxen 250 mg. ( total 1& 1/2 pills every second day & Motrin 200 mg x 2 every second day ) I would like to take a lower dose if possible. I have not taken any prescription drugs all my life. I was prescribed penicillin one time & I was allergic to it. I had not seen a doctor in over 30 years, I am on a 10 year waiting list for a family doctor. The last thing I want to say is my blood pressure 2 months ago was 140, now because I have been taking the Naproxen & ibuprofen for some days It has gone up to 192. I was prescribed Norvasc 5mg. Sorry I cannot read the rest of what it says. By taking all these pills, I do not want to be having shortness of breath, stomach issues etc. PS. Is there some healthy natural way to lower my blood pressure. I do not see how my blood pressure could have gone up that much in just 2 months. Maybe the stress of driving all that way to the clinic & not getting sufficient sleep lately put the number up, I believe was the reason. I will be looking for your advice in this matter. Thank You.

Brief Answer:
Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

i read your question and i understand your concern. The doses are indeed high. Start from 5 mg per dose every 8 hour for flexeril and 500 mg per dose every 8 hours for tylenol for the pain in neck. Massage and keeping pillow low with slight physio will help. No worries for that.

This blood pressure hike, should be confirmed at three different occasions at complete rest after 15 minutes of sitting or lying down to confirm whether its blood pressure or not. If so then i am afraid you will have to use antihypertensive medications and norvasc is a good start. Natural measures can prevent or delay the adverse effects but not treat blood pressure. Reducing salt intake, weight and caloric intake is helpful.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Regards
Khan
